Browning Depot, MT
Browning Depot is located in north-central Montana at an elevation
of 4500 feet and has been an active BPA monitoring site since October 1985.
The site was originally instrumented at two levels with sensors located at
both the 40 and 80 foot levels. In addition, a redundant anemometer was
installed at 80 ft. providing measurements of wind speed only. In late
October 1989, the 40 foot sensor and the redundant 80 foot sensor were both
removed leaving only a single sensor at the site. The monthly mean wind speed
for all of these sensors is shown in the figure below. Browning Depot, MT site was removed on August 13, 2003.
