OSU Energy Resources Research Laboratory Chinook, OR. Chinook was added to the network on January 11, 2006. An R. M. Young Wind Monitor was installed at the 164 foot level of a tower installed in north-east Oregon, several miles east of the town of Boardman. The area is mostly flat with some rolling hills and open terrain. The site was chosen and installed to help in wind forecasting activities. The monthly mean wind speed values are shown below.
