OSU Energy Resources Research Laboratory Sevenmile Hill, OR Sevenmile Hill is located in north-central Oregon, west of The Dalles near the Columbia River Gorge. The site is situated along a ridge-line at an elevation of 1880 feet. This site has been a wind monitoring site since October 1978 and was originally instrumented with sensors at both 50 and 150 feet. In January 1990, the upper level anemometer was lowered to 100 feet where it remains. The time series of monthly mean wind speed for each level for the period of record at Sevenmile Hill are presented in the figure below.
