About this e-bulletin

Welcome and Congratulations…

Please welcome Sandy Staehlin as our newest ME–IME staff member! Sandy works in the Graduate Services, Research, and External Relations Office in Rogers 204, replacing Gitte Johnson (who recently accepted a position with the School of Veterinary Medicine). With a BS in Business, accounting certification, and a professional background in both industry and academe, Sandy brings a multitude of skills and experience to our programs and we’re delighted that she has join the ME–IME team. On the personal side, Sandy enjoys reading Patrick O'Brian novels, gardening, TV news shows, watching "Survivor," and cooking.  Please stop by Rogers 204 and say hello!

And kudos to Dr. Stel Walker, ME Professor, Assistant ME Department Head, OSU Energy Resources Research Laboratory director, and a leading consultant in the wind energy industry. If you haven’t yet noticed, Dr. Walker is currently noted on the OSU home page for his efforts in designing a miniature wind turbine that can be mounted along the edges of building roofs to generate electricity. To learn more about his work, see http://oregonstate.edu/dept/ncs/newsarch/2006/Dec06/turbines.html. Dr. Walker’s story has also been picked up by United Press International—see http://www.upi.com/Energy/view.php?StoryID=20061229-092145-2072r.
